5 Days Qinghai Travel Itineraries and Routes

5-day Highlights of Qinghai

Day 1: Arrive in Xining and visit the Ta'er Monastery, also known as the Kumbum Monastery, one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Day 2: Visit the Qinghai Lake, the largest lake in China, located in the northeastern part of the province. Take a boat tour to explore the lake and visit the Bird Island.

Day 3: Head to the Chaka Salt Lake, one of the largest saltwater lakes in China. Visit the Chaka Salt Lake Museum, which has exhibits on the history and geology of the lake.

Day 4: Visit the Qiangtang Nature Reserve, home to many endangered species such as the Tibetan antelope, wild yak and snow leopard.

Day 5: Visit the Dongguan Mosque, one of the oldest and most well-preserved mosques in China. Explore the local markets and try some of the local food before departing from Xining.
