As an old Dong village deeply hidden in mountains, Zhaoxing has a reputation due to its ancient wooden structures, its magnificent view of the fertile terraced fields and its cordial, local people. Additionally, Zhaoxing has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for its pure ethnic culture.

Zhaoxing is the largest Dong ethnic community in China, rarely influenced by modernity.  The villagers live in their old wooden houses and maintain traditional lifestyles. One thing that you cannot miss in Zhaoxing are the theater stages, which are supplementary elements to the drum tower. A theater stage can be found wherever there is a drum tower.
