3-day itinerary for a trip from Beijing to Datong
Day 1: Take the morning high-speed train from Beijing to Datong (2.5 hours), Arrive in Datong and check into your hotel, Visit the Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Buddhist rock-cut cave temples, Explore the Hanging Temple, a unique temple built into a cliff face.
Day 2: Visit the Shanhua Temple, one of the largest and best-preserved ancient temples in China, See the Nine Dragon Screen, a colorful wall of dragons at the entrance to the temple, Take a stroll through Datong's old town and visit the city's drum and bell towers, In the evening, attend a performance of the famous Datong Shadow Puppetry show.

8 days Bejiing Datong Hanging temple and Wutai Mountain Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Beijing, check in to your hotel and rest.
Day 2: Visit the Forbidden City, the largest ancient imperial palace in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, head to Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world and a symbol of China's modern history. In the evening, explore the bustling Wangfujing shopping street and try some local street food.
Day 3: Take a day trip to the Great Wall of China, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a must-see attraction in Beijing. After a hike on the Great Wall, visit the Temple of Heaven, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a sacred place for imperial worship during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Day 4: Visit the Summer Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a former imperial garden and palace. Afterwards, head to the Lama Temple, one of the most famous Tibetan Buddhist temples outside of Tibet. In the evening, explore the historic hutongs (alleyways) and take a traditional rickshaw ride.
Day 5: Travel to Datong and visit the Hanging Temple, a unique and ancient temple built into a cliff face. Afterwards, visit the Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a collection of ancient Buddhist cave temples.
Day 6: Travel to Wutai Mountain, one of the four sacred Buddhist mountains in China and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the numerous temples and monasteries on the mountain and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Day 7: Continue exploring Wutai Mountain and participate in a traditional Buddhist ceremony or meditation session.
Day 8: Return to Beijing and depart.
