Definitely the way to see the country

Took my daughter (just she and I) on a tour of China for a Senior year trip (I travel here often with work).

Having a guide and driver in each location was absolutely the way to go - our three guides (Nancy - Beijing; Amy - Xian; Mary - Chengdu) were outstanding and the drivers really helped with traffic. The guides all helped us navigate the cities and attractions and were very helpful with identifying what type of food we should get (we avoided the western ones). Their suggestions, when to get somewhere early and in what order, were always right on. They were also helpful in making sure we got on our necessary transportation. I often feel the measure of a tour company is more about how they react to a difficult situation than when things are going smoothly, and we got to see this one in action at the end of our trip. We were only in Shanghai for one night but the driver got sent to the wrong airport.

I had gotten so comfortable with the arrangements I hadn't noted the hotel we were staying in. Lydia (our coordinator) did an excellent job of keeping us informed and working with us, and the taxi, needed to get us to hotel and to the airport the following morning. Since I am in Shanghai often I was never too uncomfortable but as I mentioned I hadn't prepared myself to get us where we needed to be...Lydia stayed in constant contact and made sure we were comfortable through the whole issue.
