Xi'an Dunhuang Turpan and Kashgar
10 Days China Silk Road ItineraryDay 1: Arrival in Xi'an, Terracotta Army, the ancient city wall of Xi'an, Xi'an's famous street food at the Muslim Quarter.
Day 2: Xi'an, Shaanxi History Museum to learn about the history and culture of the Shaanxi province; Big Wild Goose Pagoda, an ancient Buddhist pagoda dating back to the Tang Dynasty; traditional dumpling dinner and Tang Dynasty music and dance performance in the evening.
Day 3: Xi'an to Dunhuang by plane, Mogao Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Buddhist cave art; Dunhuang Night Market and try local delicacies.
Day 4: Dunhuang, Singing Sand Dunes and Crescent Lake, where you can ride camels and experience the desert landscape; Dunhuang Museum to learn more about the region's history and culture; evening performance of the Dunhuang Dance and Music Show.
Day 5: Dunhuang to Liuyuan by tranfer(about 2 hours), Liuyuan South to Turpan by train(about 3-4 hours), Jiaohe Ruins, an ancient Silk Road city; Karez Irrigation System, an underground irrigation system dating back over 2,000 years.
Day 6: Turpan, Emin Minaret, one of the tallest ancient minarets in China; the ruins of Gaochang Ancient City, another ancient Silk Road site; Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves, known for their well-preserved Buddhist murals; try local Turpan cuisine at a traditional Uyghur restaurant.
Day 7: Turpan to Kashgar, Old Town of Kashgar and visit the Id Kah Mosque.
Day 8: Kashgar, Kashgar Sunday Market, one of the largest and most vibrant markets in Central Asia; Abakh Hoja Tomb and the Kashgar Grand Bazaar; try unique blend of Uyghur, Tajik, and Han Chinese cultures in Kashgar.
Day 9: Kashgar to Tashkurgan, Stone Fort and explore Tashkurgan Old Town; Enjoy the stunning scenery of the Pamir Mountains and the grasslands surrounding Tashkurgan.
